Money Smart Week, initiated by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 2002, is a public awareness campaign designed to enhance consumers’ ability to manage their personal finances. This collaborative effort involves thousands of organizations across the country, including businesses, financial institutions, schools, libraries, not-for-profits, government agencies, and the media. The programming caters to all demographics and income levels, covering various facets of personal finance.
While the Federal Reserve Bank has decided to retire Money Smart Week after two decades, the Chicago Treasurer’s Office is stepping up to continue the journey. They are hosting a 3-day virtual event from April 16th to 19th, 2024, empowering Chicago residents with essential insights and practical tips for financial success. Joining this initiative are organizations such as the IRS, the City of Chicago Department of Housing, and the Department of Family and Support Services.
