Chicago – (April 25, 2023) — From May 1 to 3, the City Treasurer’s Office will honor the vital contributions made by Chicago’s entrepreneurs and small businesses by presenting three business education webinars. The webinars will be led by financial service experts to assist entrepreneurs with starting, growing, and sustaining their businesses. While each webinar is available at no cost, all require advance registration.
“The City Treasurer’s Office is delighted to participate in ‘National Small Business Week’ by offering these financial education webinars for entrepreneurs and small business owners,” said City Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin. “These are the people who are instrumental in creating jobs and delivering the goods and services that help build strong, sustainable communities.”
On Monday, May 1, “Small Business Insurance” will cover the benefits of liability, property, and business continuation policies. Presented by Hazana Rivers, Client Executive, Hylant Group, the session will offer helpful tips to navigate the sometimes-complex world of business owner insurance. Register here.
On Tuesday, May 2, Kimberly Brisky, Managing Director of Communications and Engagement, SomerCor, will discuss the variety of loans and grants that are available to small business owners to help with real estate construction and renovations associated with new or expanding businesses. The webinar, “Small Business Administration Loans & NOF and SBIF Grants,” will focus specifically on the low-interest Small Business Administration’s 504 loan, the city’s Neighborhood Opportunity Fund (NOF) and Small Business Improvement Fund (SBIF) grants. Finally, on Wednesday, May 3, Blake Vetrone, Small Business Coach at Operation HOPE will lead a discussion about financial literacy and economic empowerment services. The webinar, “Maintaining a Small Business,” will offer expert advice on a variety of issues, from managing overhead costs to setting specific goals to build a sustainable business. Register here.
